We’re bringing local groups, schools and charities together to build their very own scarecrow in the Square, raise awareness of their cause and raise funds for local causes and charities.

We’ll provide the materials, sourced wherever possible from local charities, organisations and community causes, and our entries just need to bring their creativity and a small design team!

The finished scarecrows will become part of our Scare in the Square display, with a plaque telling visitors about each organisation and a QR code allowing the public to vote for their favourite.

The winning group, as voted for by the public, will receive £100 towards their cause, charity or group fundraising!

It’s a fun way to showcase your creativity and be part of a new Autumn community event in the heart of Dorchester.

Ready to get creative? We’d love to have you involved!

There are two making sessions at Brewery Square in October, these are:

Monday 19 October 2026 4pm – 6pm
Monday 26th October, 10am – 12 noon

And you can choose which ever session that works best for your group.

The Scarecrows will be on display in the square throughout Halloween / Half Term, where we’ll also have lots of free family activities for everyone to enjoy! After this, you can keep your own creation if you would like to or we will recycle the materials used.

We have 20 spaces available, so be quick and get your entry in!

Please use this link here to sign up! We’d love for you to join us.

Brewery Square is thrilled to unveil a spook-tacular week of Halloween events, headlined by an audacious attempt to break the world record for the largest ghost gathering!

This celebration, aptly titled “Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun,” promises to be a hauntingly good time for families, friends and Halloween enthusiasts alike.

The highlight of the week is set for Thursday 31st October, when hundreds of costumed ghosts will converge in Brewery Square, aiming to break the current world record of 560 ghosts in one location. With the excitement building, Brewery Square is poised to make history with the largest gathering of ghosts ever recorded.

This record-breaking ghost gathering will fill the Square with an army of the undead, followed by a live band, dancing, entertainment and competitions.

The entire week leading up to the big day will be packed with a variety of eerie activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone with arts and crafts, workshops, circus skills and a ghost hunt

Taking place on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, this popular event will run from 10am until 3pm.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1570469348138{margin-top: -75px !important;margin-bottom: -75px !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]All entrants are required to collect an entry form on the day from the Concierge Office, opposite the Dorchester South Train Station and then find the ghosts and ghouls hidden throughout the Square. All those who successfully complete the challenge will be rewarded with some fantastic Halloween goodies. There will also be a prize awarded for the spookiest fancy-dress costume.

Charlotte Spracklen, center manager for Brewery Square, said: “We are very much looking forward to the return of the Halloween Ghost Hunt. This event is always hugely popular and great fun for children and families. Last year, there were some fantastic fancy-dress outfits on show, so we can’t wait to see this year’s entrants and reward the winner of our ‘best dressed’ competition.”

The ghost hunt is open to children up to 15 years old. Completed forms should be returned for a prize.
