Most people think a day out in Dorchester starts with a lap of the town hunting for a space. It doesn’t have to. If you’re wondering how to get to Brewery Square, the honest answer is that it might be the easiest trip you make all week.
We’ve got a train station right in the Square, buses pulling in a few minutes away and a big car park just across the road. Here’s everything you need, whichever way you’re travelling.

Coming by train: you’re already here
Dorchester South station sits right in Brewery Square. Step off the platform and you’re a minute from a coffee at Costa, a film at the Odeon or lunch at Wagamama.
- From London and Southampton: direct trains run from London Waterloo every half hour, taking around 2 hours 45 minutes. They stop at Southampton and Winchester on the way.
- From Weymouth: about 10 minutes on the train. Honestly quicker than parking.
- From Bristol, Cheltenham and Worcester: trains run into Dorchester West, which is around a five minute walk from the Square.
Top tip: on a busy Saturday, the train from Weymouth means no queuing for a space and no watching the clock on a parking ticket.
Coming by bus
Buses from across Dorset stop at Dorchester South Station at the top of Pope Street, or on Trinity Street, a short walk away.
- From Weymouth: Route10
- From Poundbury: Route 6

Charges apply from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week, and you can pay by card, cash or the JustPark app. One thing locals know: on Wednesdays the covered section closes for Dorchester market, so arrive a little earlier on market day.
Getting around once you’re here
Brewery Square is flat, pedestrianised and open 24 hours a day for through access, so there’s no rush.
Staying over?
Premier Inn is in the Square on Pope Street, so you can eat, catch a late film and be in bed within five minutes.
